Almost all the services ADEC provides are governed by a state agency, which determines eligibility for services and controls the admissions process to our services. The following information describes the types of ADEC services and how to start to the process of accessing those services.
Individuals with disabilities wanting help getting or keeping a job need to call the local office of the Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services. In Elkhart 574-262-2086 and in St. Joseph County 574-232-4861. You need to ask for an appointment with a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor to start the process to see if you are eligible for services. Once determined eligible, clients may choose ADEC to work with them from a list of qualified providers.
Supervised Group Living (group homes), Supported Living and Day Services
Family members seeking any of these services must call the Indiana Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Office in South Bend at 574-232-1412. State that you want to apply for services for your family member and ask for an appointment to begin the eligibility process. Once found eligible, family members may select ADEC as their service provider from a list of qualified providers.
To be eligible for these services, families must already be eligible for a Medicaid Waiver and have a case manager The individual’s case manager should be notified that respite services are requested. The case manager is the person who is to call the Director of Adult Habilitation (Day) Services at ADEC to secure arrangements for respite services for the family. ADEC is responsible for training the respite provider.
Recreational & Music Therapies
To be eligible for these services families must already be eligible for a Waiver and have a case manager. The family’s case manager should be notified that Recreation and/or Music Therapies are requested. The case manager is the person who is to call the Director of Children/Family Services at ADEC to secure arrangements for Recreation and/or Music Therapies for the family.
