It has been in the works for more than a year, and the countdown is ON!

Tickets are still available for the event, which will take place from 6-9 p.m. April 20 at the RV Hall of Fame, located on C.R. 17 at Exit 96 of the Indiana Toll Road.

With just a little more than a week to go, we wanted to clear up a few things about this party-of-the-year.

The ADEC Ball is not a prom.

We have heard a lot of people call this event the “prom.” While there are some similarities — our ladies will be wearing beautiful dresses and the people we serve will arrive in style in a limo — the ADEC Ball is so much more.

When we think of a prom, we think of an exclusive event catered to teenagers. The people we serve who are attending the ADEC Ball are adults who want an evening of dignity and friendship, not drama and hormones.

The ADEC Ball is a celebration of how far our community has come since ADEC was founded in 1952, a time when people with disabilities were sent away to institutions or hidden in the basement. ADEC was first founded by a group of parents who wanted their children with disabilities to be included and accepted in the community.

Imagine how proud those families would be to see individuals with disabilities dancing the night away with new friends at a fancy Ball.

The ADEC Ball is open to the public.

Yes, the ADEC Ball was dreamed up for the people we serve — but we also planned it for YOU!

We asked 100 of the people we serve to attend the ADEC Ball on April 20, and we asked 100 people in the community to act as their buddies for the evening. The people we serve and their buddies will be treated to a special sit-down dinner before the ADEC Ball, a family friendly event open to the public. You don’t need to be an ADEC client or a Ball Buddy to attend the ADEC Ball.

The RV Hall of Fame is a huge space, so the more the merrier. Tickets can be purchased online at adecinc.com/adecball, and special rates are available for groups, corporations and children.

There is more than dancing at the ADEC Ball.

Not a dancer? That’s OK! You won’t be bored (or hungry) at the ADEC Ball.

The dance floor, with tunes from Millinova Music and DJ Services, is just one piece of the evening. Inside the massive RV Hall of Fame, we will have:

•Virtual reality gaming stations.
•Life-sized games, including Uno, checkers, bowling, Yahtzee, Kerplunk and Scrabble.
•Tasty small plates, including a made-to-order ramen station, mac-n-cheese bites and crab cakes.
•A silent auction, featuring a diamond pendant from Sorg Jewelers, tickets to see Hamilton in Chicago and an incredible experience at Churchhill Downs.
•A swanky jazz lounge with white leather furniture and chandeliers.

This is a one-time event.

Want in on the magic? This is your one and only chance.
