At ADEC, there is a special fund called the Angel Fund. This fund was established years ago by a family who recognized there are times when individuals who are served by ADEC have needs that go above their financial means. For many years, the Angel Fund provided a gift of $100 for any individual served by ADEC who had a need.
“The greatest impact of the Angel Fund has been for those individuals who moved from wherever they were, including poor family conditions or maybe from another provider, where they’ve not had much of anything,” said Cary Kelsey, a current board member and the former vice president of advocacy and quality assurance at ADEC. “The Angel of ADEC fund has helped get them established with some very basic things that most of us would take for granted, whether it’s bed sheets or simple kitchen wares, so they can live more independently and comfortably.”
As the years went by, however, the Angel Fund was draining quickly – by July 2016, only $200 remained and the fund’s future looked bleak.
Thanks to ADEC employees and other supporters – the angels at ADEC – the fund has swelled to almost $8,000 and continues to grow.
The Angel Fund has helped countless individuals through the years in many ways. A woman ADEC served needed dental work to remove some teeth. She took great pride in her smile and was devastated by the news. Moreover, the amount of money it would take to return her smile was beyond her reach. The Angel Fund was put into action, and today she has her smile back.
When you give to the Angel Fund, you return smiles to the individuals we serve.
