SOUTH BEND, INDIANA – On Friday, May 13th from 1-2 pm, ADEC will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to officially announce and celebrate our newly constructed ADEC Facility in South Bend. Our large new building on the south side of the city sits among quiet residential areas, and will house staff offices, our first Day Program in South Bend, outdoor spaces, a walking path and multiple rooms for therapies.
Our staff is especially excited about the new Sensory Room, which is a specially designed room which combines a range of stimuli to help individuals develop and engage their senses. These can include lights, colors, sounds, and sensory resources. Sensory rooms have many benefits for those with learning difficulties, developmental disabilities or sensory processing impairments, helping them learn to interact with the world around them in a safe environment that builds up their confidence and ability, as well as allowing the therapist or companion to see what calms them, excites them and what they do or don’t like.
Join ADEC CEO Donna Belusar, members of ADEC’s Board of Directors and staff as we officially welcome members of the South Bend Chamber of Commerce to the space, as well as Indiana State Representative Jake Teshka, District 10 Senator David Niezgodski and South Bend Mayor James Mueller. We are very pleased and proud to offer this new state-of-the-art facility to our community members with disabilities, and their families. Tours will be available after the ribbon-cutting.
