There are more than 400 employees who work at ADEC, the majority of whom are Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Each year, the governor of Indiana designates a week dedicated to DSPs, and we love to celebrate it at ADEC!

DSP Appreciation Week runs from Sept. 8 to 14 this year, but with so many great employees, we wanted to celebrate all month long!

This year, we’re giving shout outs on our social media all month, with pictures of DSPs (and other staff) and quotes from them of their favorite ADEC memories. Sometimes the memories were a small thing — like an individual we serve remembering a DSPs name shortly after they started working — and sometimes it was a big thing — like seeing the look of amazement on a client’s face as they discover a hidden talent.

We’re also recognizing some of those same DSPs on our electronic sign in the front of our administrative building during DSP Week so we can share our staff’s awesomness with the whole community.

As part of the preparation for DSP Week, we also asked our employees take a one-question survey for a chance to win a fabulous prize. Five lucky winners took home either a $500 gift card to Belle Tire or a new set of pots and pans.

Each employee will also be receiving a free t-shirt, emblazoned with DSP on the back, to show their support and pride for ADEC and our colleagues. Our CEO, our board chair, and some of the individuals we serve even helped sort the more than 400 shirts!

We have phenomenal employees at ADEC who are the backbone of helping the individuals we serve reach their potential of true informed choice and possibility. Thank you for all you do!
