For 50 years, ADEC’s Ride A Bike has brought our community together for a day of fun, friendship, and fundraising. With this year’s ride just around the corner, our Day Programs kicked off the celebration with a special Kickoff Party!
The day was all about getting excited for the big event and giving the individuals we serve an opportunity to be part of the 50th Anniversary celebration from the very beginning.
Getting Ready to Ride
The Kickoff Party was filled with games, snacks, and plenty of Ride A Bike fun! Individuals from our Day Programs came together to celebrate the upcoming event, spend time with friends, and get excited for the festivities on October 3rd!
Of course, no party would be complete without a few games!
One of the favorites was “Pin the Helmet on the Rider.” Participants took turns trying to place the helmet in the right spot while their friends cheered them on. The party also featured an Art by ADEC activity where the individuals made “Whirligigs”, a spinning toy made out of string and paper. There was plenty of laughter, creativity, and friendly competition throughout the day.
The games and activities gave everyone a chance to have fun while building excitement for an event that has been an important part of ADEC and our community for five decades.

A Special Piece of Art
The individuals we serve also took on an important creative project during the Kickoff Party: making the tablecloth for the Ride A Bike registration table!
Participants added their own handprints to the tablecloth, creating a one-of-a-kind piece that will be draped over the registration table.
This project gave every person an opportunity to contribute something special to Ride A Bike. When riders and the public arrive to register, they will see a piece of artwork created by the individuals we serve waiting for them.
