The History

1958

Back in 1958, ADEC Industries started as one of the first sheltered workshops, extending vocational training and practical experience to adults with disabilities. Over the years, our focus evolved, shining a spotlight on aiding those with visual impairments.

1980’s

The early 1980s marked a pivotal moment- ADEC received a grant that paved the path to our current Elkhart location. This move aimed to widen the horizon of vocational opportunities for a diverse range of individuals.

2020

Fast forward to 2020, a transformative leap occurred. ADEC’s Board of Directors and Leadership orchestrated a shift from a sheltered workshop setup to a forward- looking, integrated competitive employer. This change opened doors for individuals with disabilities to contribute in meaningful ways to their community.

At ADEC Industries, we unite a diverse team of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to create something truly remarkable, meaningful employment in an accepting environment. ADEC Industries, a spacious 60,000 square foot industrial space located in Elkhart, holds a team that pours their heart and dedication into performing high- quality packaging and assembly work, as well as manufacturing the Silver Linings trash bags. These individuals earn above minimum wage, while learning new skills and boosting their self-esteem.
