Many children and young adults look forward to summer, but for some, it’s for a different reason. Each summer, ADEC Summer Camp provides a safe and encouraging environment where children with intellectual and developmental disabilities can learn, grow, and belong.
Our camp is designed with a vibrant mix of activities, outings, and visits from local organizations. This year, we were so excited to welcome THOR Industries Inc., a global leader in recreational vehicle manufacturing, for another visit. Annisa Blosser, RV Education Director at THOR Industries, says, “We truly enjoy coming out here with the kids and doing these activities with them.”
Seven individuals from THOR Industries visited our Elkhart summer camp and brought with them smiles, laughter, and, of course, fun activities! THOR Industries’ team created four activity stations for our campers to enjoy: an RV LEGO building station, a temporary tattoo station, drawing activities, and RV tours! For some of these children, this was their first time being in an RV. Their smiles and questions about the vehicle spoke for themselves. We had a perfect afternoon filled with creativity, hands-on games, and self-expression!

When asked about her favorite part of the visit, camper Christina said, “I loved the temporary tattoos!” Many other campers shared the same sentiment, making sure they picked the same tattoo as their best friends. Camper Brody said his favorite part was the chairs in the RV.
The involvement of THOR Industries at ADEC Summer Camp is a testament to the company’s commitment to making a positive impact in the communities it serves. Throughout the afternoon, campers and volunteers alike were smiling, laughing, and enjoying the energetic day.
