ADEC is thrilled to announce the receipt of a generous $318,945 grant from Crossroads United Way, serving Elkhart, LaGrange & Noble Counties, to support the development of its transformative outdoor programming space at the ADEC Resource Center in Elkhart. This funding marks a major milestone in ADEC’s goal to create more inclusive, enriching environments for the individuals it serves.

“With deep gratitude, we thank Crossroads United Way for their continued partnership and investment in our vision,” said Chris Kingsley, ADEC’s President/CEO. “This substantial grant will fund essential components of the outdoor space laid out in phase one of the project, which is designed to promote wellness, connection, and creativity among individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This grant is a game-changer for ADEC and our community.”

This grant brings significant momentum to achieving the project fundraising goal of $800,000. ADEC seeks additional support from the community to reach this goal and complete this transformative project.

ADEC’s Director of Community Engagement, Courtney Smith, added, “We’re incredibly thankful for Crossroads United Way’s belief in our mission and their generous support, which brings us significantly closer to bringing this vibrant outdoor space to life. ADEC invites individuals, businesses, and organizations to join us in making this vision a reality. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us finish strong and ensure this space is ready for all to enjoy.”

The outdoor programming space will feature accessible walking paths, sensory gardens, a basketball court, an ADA playground, gathering areas, and other inclusive features that promote community engagement and holistic well-being. It reflects ADEC’s ongoing commitment to provide choice and possibility for all.
