ADEC hosted the inaugural Ride-A-Bike fundraising event in 1972. Since its inception, Ride-A-Bike has done so much more than fundraising; it has become a symbol of unity, resilience, and unwavering support for ADEC’s mission. For over four decades, families, friends, and neighbors eagerly anticipated this annual event, making it the longest-running bike ride in Elkhart County and the second oldest in the state of Indiana. But in 2020, the echoes of laughter and the hum of spinning wheels were silenced by the unprecedented challenges brought forth by the pandemic.

As we navigated uncertain times, the spirit of Ride-A-Bike endured, and our community has remained resilient. This year, ADEC’s annual fundraising event will sound very familiar to our community as we are bringing back many features of the once 40+ year fundraiser, Ride-A-Bike, and will once again raise funds for vital programming while focusing on health and wellbeing.

Come ride, walk, and make lasting memories alongside your neighbors with disabilities on October 12th, 2024, at Ox Bow Park. The event will consist of a bike ride, family walk, food trucks, music by Froggy 102.7, giveaways, yard games, exciting activities, and so much more! Get involved through fundraising, volunteering, or participating at this year’s Ride-A-Bike event to support ADEC’s mission of providing choice and possibility to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Event registration will begin on May 1st and continue until the event, but you won’t want to miss out on the early bird registration special! During the months of May and June, take advantage of our early bird event registration, which includes discounted registration for adults and children, as well as Ride-A-Bike merchandise to have during the event. Visit ADEC’s website to learn more about the event and get registered.

We are proud to announce Froggy 102.7, THOR Industries, and Welch Packaging as the presenting sponsors for this year’s event. Their commitment and support have been instrumental in making this event possible, and we are deeply grateful for their contribution to Ride-A-Bike.

For many, Ride-A-Bike is more than just a fundraiser- it’s a journey of discovery and compassion. It’s the first step toward supporting ADEC’s mission, understanding people’s stories, and championing their rights. It’s a testament to the power of a community coming together for a common purpose.

We extend our heartfelt invitation to you: join us as we embark on this meaningful journey once more. Let us pedal through history, not just as participants, fundraisers, or volunteers, but as champions of choice and possibility for all.
