On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, ADEC clients, staff, and Board Members alongside with DJ Construction held a “Groundbreaking Event” for ADEC’s new Program Service Center to be opening in spring 2022 located at 2010 E Farnsworth Drive in South Bend.
The new facility will offer day services, therapies, community employment service and more in early 2022!!
For nearly 70 years, ADEC has been serving our communities with program options and service alternatives for individuals and families with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The new facility in St. Joseph County, at the site of the former VA Clinic in South Bend, will triple the capacity to provide home and community-based services including person-centered vocational, technological, social, recreational, health and wellness, and creative day service programming; music, recreational and behavioral therapies; and support and counseling for community employment.
Michelle McGuin, ADEC Chief Program Officer, shared “this is an exciting day for the individuals we serve. Once our new facility is ready, we will be able to move from our current Mishawaka location and in the process, give families more options and choices. It is a fantastic location”. Donna L. Belusar, President / CEO, echoed the enthusiasm. “This really is an exciting day. Our new facility is the outcome of family feedback asking ADEC to expand services and offer more options. Our intentional person-centered programming and home and community-based philosophy will give individuals an opportunity for personal development, growth, and a strong sense of belonging and friendship with this new facility.”
Jeff Schrock, ADEC VP Operations, is ADEC’s voice and guidance on location with DJ Construction, from Goshen Indiana, in making this dream come true. DJ Construction has partnered with ADEC in other projects and truly has an understanding that this is more than construction – it’s a place of hope, choice, and possibilities. Thank you, DJ Construction.
Keep in touch on social media and ADEC’s website for updates and progress reports. Looking forward to Spring 2022.
