Have a Heart for The Arc Event
Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to tell those we love we are thankful for them. It is a day of appreciation and heartfelt gestures.
For ADEC, Valentine’s Day is also a special opportunity for us to share these heartfelt gestures with our state and local officials, who work to provide more opportunities for the community members we serve. Each year, individuals served by ADEC create personalized valentines to send down to the Statehouse to share with these leaders. A group made up of staff, clients, and family members will then go down to personally thank these leaders and share these valentines with them.
Hosted by The Arc of Indiana, the Have a Heart for the Arc event invites chapters of The Arc to participate and make these special connections with legislators. These opportunities help providers like ADEC and self-advocates continue to bring up important issues directly to lawmakers while showing appreciation for the work they are already doing in the state. Because of this event, these officials are able to put faces to the causes they support and dedicate time to hear about the current needs of our community members who live with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We are thankful for the collaboration from The Arc of Indiana and our local legislators in hearing the voices of those we serve and working to make Indiana a more inclusive and supportive state for all.
What is The Arc of Indiana?
