On Friday, August 2, ADEC partnered with the South Bend Cubs for a fun-filled and meaningful evening at Four Winds Field to celebrate ADEC’s Disability Awareness Night — and what a night it was!

Kicking things off, some individuals from ADEC’s Self Advocates group volunteered to proudly welcome fans to the game by handing out special ADEC and Cubs-branded giveaway bags to the first 1000 fans to enter the stadium. It was a great opportunity to share our mission and make meaningful connections with the community.

The excitement continued as ADEC was honored with throwing the ceremonial first pitch of the game. ADEC’s Self-Advocate volunteers joined ADEC’s President and CEO, Chris Kingsley, on the field for this special moment, setting the tone for a night full of community spirit.

Throughout the evening, the stands were filled with ADEC staff, supporters, and individuals we serve, all cheering on the Cubs and soaking in the atmosphere. Over in the stadium Picnic Garden, individuals from ADEC’s Group Homes enjoyed a delicious dinner with a fantastic view of the game. The Zooperstars entertainment act kept the crowd laughing with their signature inflatable antics, adding to the night’s family-friendly fun.

To top it all off, the South Bend Cubs brought home a win for the perfect ending to an unforgettable evening.

We are incredibly grateful to the South Bend Cubs for hosting us and to our amazing community for showing up in support. Events like these shine a light on the importance of inclusion, awareness, and the power of community.
