What is the 2018 ADEC Airstream Raffle?

The 2018 ADEC Airstream Raffle (Raffle) is a fundraising event run by ADEC, Inc. and will benefit individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. ADEC, Inc. is a licensed 501(c)(3) charitable organization registered in the state of Indiana.  This raffle is registered and licensed by the Indiana Gaming Commission. (License #144862)

What does it mean that the 2018 ADEC Airstream Raffle benefits ADEC?

Net proceeds created from the Raffle will be used to benefit individuals served and supported by ADEC, Inc.

What is the cost of a ticket and how many tickets can I purchase?

Each ticket costs $100.00 USD and there is no limit on the number of tickets a single individual can purchase other than there are only 1,952 tickets available. The more tickets you purchase the more chances you have to win.

Can employees of Thor, Airstream and ADEC purchase tickets?

Members of ADEC’s Board of Directors, ADEC Leadership and Management employees and those listed on the Indiana Gaming Commission Raffle License, their spouses and children are excluded from participating.  All others are welcome to participate.

Can my raffle ticket be used as a tax deduction?

The IRS has taken the position that amounts paid for chances to participate in raffles, lotteries or similar programs are not gifts and, therefore, the price of your entry does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution.  Please consult with your own tax advisers for any additional information.  The IRS further requires corresponding income tax withholding on prizes with values of $5,000 or greater be paid prior to prize distribution.  This includes 25% federal income tax withholding and 3.4% Indiana* State tax withholding on the stated value of the 2018 Airstream Sport R.V. (fmv $46,300).  Withholding taxes must be paid to ADEC, Inc. upon delivery of the prize.

*Or whichever state the winner resides in.

How will I know if I win the R.V.?

Winners will be contacted via phone or through the mail following prize drawing. The contact information provided with the ticket purchase will be utilized to contact winners.

How can I buy a ticket through the mail?

Individuals who wish to purchase a ticket through the mail can download and fill out an Online Mail order raffle ticket form.  Return the order form with a personal check, cashier’s check or a money order for the amount of the ticket.  Send to: ADEC, Inc. Attn: Jess Koscher, 19670 State Road 120, Bristol, IN 46507. ADEC will process the Raffle ticket order and send the completed Raffle ticket stub in the mail to the address provided in the Raffle ticket order form once corresponding payment is received/honored on or before noon, April 12, 2018.

ADEC shall have no responsibility with respect to Raffle ticket orders that are not received prior to, or payments honored by, the stated deadlines.  Raffle ticket orders received after the deadlines will be returned to the address included on the Raffle ticket order form unless otherwise directed by the purchaser.

What is the floor plan and size of the airstream?

After reading about the taxes, I realize that if I won, I’d have to come up with cash to pay the taxes…. and I don’t have that. Can the winner get a cash reward instead? Also, I would have to buy a truck. I love the idea of entering, but if I won, I’d have to sell it, I think. ; (

Greetings! Yes, unfortunately it is IRS law that prize winners must pay taxes on the prizes they receive. This happens even on those fun game shows or when Oprah gives out cars. We think it’s a bummer too. Because we have the Airstream already, we are not able to offer a cash equivalent like you see sometimes offered. In those cases, the item has not already been purchased by whoever is raffling it off. And I’m afraid if you did win it you’d have to get something to tow it. But I’m sure you’d want to because it’s so cute you’d want everyone to see it. Thank you for your interest.

I went to the airstream website that you mentioned in another post and I noticed two floor plans. Which floor plan has been selected, the Sport 16RB which is closer to the price range offered in the raffle or The Sport 22FB which has more room and at a higher price range? I am going to guess it is the Sport 16RB, which is still a very nice floor plan and a very generous offer for a raffle prize to support ADEC. The cost of the $100 per ticket would be worth it.

Question: What if they don’t sell all the 1952 tickets, do they still raffle off the AS? If not, do we get our $$ back? OR do our chances go up? 😉

    • koscherj March 22, 2018 at 10:00 pm - Reply

We will be raffling the Airstream off regardless of how many tickets are sold. Lucky you, your chances go up! Unlike many raffles, we have possession of the unit. We have a raffle license through the Gaming Commission. Therefore the RV will be raffled no matter what. We have many many tickets left so tell all of your friends to buy a ticket!

This is a wonderful idea! I’ve worked extensively with adults with developmental disabilities as a vocational rehabilitation counselor and now train new professionals working with people with disabilities so no matter what this is money well spent in donations. Curious as to whether we still have time to send in an out of state entry and how many entries you have so far?

    Thank you!

    • koscherj April 5, 2018 at 4:21 pm - Reply

      Hello Jennifer,
We currently have 241 entries. We have had several out of state calls today. Yes, you should have time. Please get a money order or cashiers check. You can scan a copy of the check and your entry form and email it to us. We will process your tickets and hold them until we get the check. But if you send tomorrow, you should have time.

How does the lucky winner get possession of the camper? I’m guessing they would have to pick up onsite? What is the timeframe?

    • koscherj April 6, 2018 at 7:56 am - Reply

The winner will need to pick it up or make arrangements to have it delivered to them. We will hold it until June 15th.

We are mailing a check today with the entry form, because we are not to good with scanning and emailing copies. Hope it gets there on time!

Do you need mail in entries by the 9th or postmarked by the 9th?

    • koscherj April 7, 2018 at 5:17 pm - Reply

As long as we have your entry by Thursday the 12th you’ll be in the drawing.
