Thanks to the work of board member Cary Kelsey, ADEC recently entered in a community partnership with Creekside Church of the Brethren in Elkhart. The church received a Lilly Congregational Ministries Grant which helped them fund a gardening project. The church provided ADEC clients with earth boxes and containers for growing vegetables.

According to Cary, ADEC clients completed a form choosing which vegetables they wanted to grow. The church delivered the containers to each client’s home and placed them as designed by the client. The clients received instructions for watering and care. They planted peppers, tomatoes, carrots, and more. Just look at those green thumbs!

The church will collect the containers at the end of the growing season and bring them back to the church’s greenhouse for storage, so they are ready for the next growing season. We can’t wait to see what the clients will grow next!
